LRU Mental Health Week
This weekend is Mental Health Awareness round where the players of Lindfield Rugby Club will be wearing one of the batyr ‘One Sock One Goal’ socks. Pioneered by our very own Jake Broxom, this day is designed to promote awareness of the stigma surrounding discussions about mental health.
Almost 1 in 5 Australians will suffer from some sort of mental illness each year and is the third leading cause of disability. This day is aimed at giving a voice to such a prevalent issue in modern society which still goes largely unnoticed.
batyr are an organisation that focuses on preventative education in the area of youth mental health. They provide programs that train young people to speak about their personal experience with mental ill health and start a conversation in their community. You can read more at http://www.batyr.com.au/
All games against Hunters Hill will be at Tryon Oval, with 4th Grade kicking things off at 10:45am. There will be a BBQ all day along with a raffle and plenty of beers, wine, champagne and drinks for the kids.
It should be a cracker of a day so bring the parents, the kids, the siblings or anyone who would enjoy a nice relaxing Saturday arvo at the footy.
The new Lindfield budgy smugglers have just arrived so you never know, you might get a glimpse of the glory!
